Speech Topic: International Labor Solidarity And Global Economic Justice I'm Scott McAllister President of Local 5286 of the Daimler Trucks North America Gastonia Components and Logistics. (Better known as Freightliner Parts Plant) Under the Leadership of Gary Casteel & Asst Director Joe Rypkowski in Region 8 On Behalf of the Daimler Workers all over the world I rise in Support of this resolution It is critically important for the UAW to maintain & strengthen ties with other Unions across International borders. We Should work together with International Labor organizations to bargain together & collectively to achieve improved wages, benefits & working conditions for all workers on a global basis. We must with our International Labor partners develop policies & actions that bring pressure on the World Bank (IMF) to make loans only to countries whose policies allow collective bargaining and the right to organize, and I EMPHASIZE FAIR ! Trade agreements. Pressure must be brought on the IMF to stop subsidizing Countries that allow repression of worker's Rights & encourage corporation's to export cheap commodities at the expense of worker's rights. UAW/Daimler workers in the Carolinas are strongly in support of the UAW establishing close working relationship with Industrial Unions who represent workers through out the European, and Asian Continents. The UAW must place special emphasis on establishing Union to Union relationships especially in Mexico & through out South America to bring about internationally recognized worker rights so that our Brothers and Sisters in other countries can Freely Organize and Stop the Corporate whipsawing that multinational Corporations employ against our Union Today...
In Solidarity, Thank You |
